As with any community, domestic abuse can be experienced by anyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, family or financial situation. The Deaf Community is one that has its own language, culture and linguistics that is unique. It is also a very small community were people don’t want to be isolated from it and find strength in it.
If a person is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, they may not feel comfortable being referred to a mainstream service as their command of English may not be very good or their first language is sign language i.e. British Sign Language, International Sign Language etc.
We are a service that can support people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in their toughest time. With a team of qualified Deaf IDVAs, they are here to provide support that is client centred.
