Galop is the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity. It works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. It specialises in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies.
It runs three national support helplines:
- LGBT+ victims and survivors of domestic abuse: 0800 999 5428
- LGBT+ people who have experienced hate crime: 020 7704 2040
- Victims and survivors of conversion therapies and practices: 0800 130 3335
Galop provides advocacy services, both in London and nationally, for LGBT+ victims who need longer-term support. It is person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed – meaning its focus is always on helping its clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.
Galop also runs an online community, the LGBTQ+ Domestic Abuse Survivors Forum, for anyone who is LGBTQ+ and has experienced domestic abuse.
