The Blue Prescribing Project is a wetland health programme specifically co-designed and delivered by WWT and Mental Health Foundation to promote a range of mental and physical health benefits. The overall aim is to improve individuals’ health by harnessing the link between people and nature, and equipping people with the tools to continue exploring nature to look after their long-term mental health. It is delivered in a peer support group setting at London Wetland Centre. Each week clients will explore the Mental Health and Blue Spaces course material and engage in facilitated wetland nature activities. All contribute towards improving individual’s well-being, self-confidence, overall mental health, and developing social connections with peers.
The project is delivered at London Wetland Centre for 6 weeks per cohort. An online delivery option is also available, for more details please enquire.
We have simplified our referral process. We accept a simple email referring the client with their name, contact number, email and additional information regarding health and safety, risk factors and special needs.
We will call the client to gain more understanding of the individual and what their needs are. Through this process we will assess the client and evaluate if they are suitable for the Blue Prescribing Project.
The Blue Prescribing Project can provide digital support, reimburse travel fare, and provide water and fruit for the session. Everyone who completes the 6 week course will benefit from a 1-year membership to London Wetland Centre, including WWT’s site across the UK, to encourage continued wetland engagement.
