At Alumina we run a 7 week self-referral course covering areas around what might lead someone to self harm and how our pasts impact how we feel about ourselves. We recognise that self harm is usually in response to an event or in response to how a young person is feeling regarding a historic event, so the best way to support them is to access help regarding that event.
We are an online support service (our groups run in a kind of online classroom) where no one sees you, you can be anonymous and there are no wrong or right answers. We want to help you think about different areas that might be some of the reasons why you are thinking about harming, in order to help you not have to. Sessions cover topics including the addictive nature of self-harm; emotional regulation; control; CBT and how to talk about our feelings or reach out for support.
