Battle Scars is a small, dedicated, 100% survivor-led and -run charity, offering local, regional, national and international support around self-harm. As a charity we strive to break down the stigma that exists around self-harm; to raise awareness; dispel myths; and to support those affected by self-harm, irrespective of gender, age, background and location.
Our services include:
- Virtual support groups for individuals who self-harm (18+)
We run our support groups on a range of days at a range of times to provide support for people who frequently struggle with self-harm (including eating disorders.) We also run a fortnightly lighter touch group for those dealing with urges but self-harming less, as well as a monthly social group. Individuals using our services can attend any of our groups.
- Virtual support groups for friends and family supporting individuals who self-harm (18+)
We run virtual support groups each week for adults who are supporting people in their lives, of any age, who are self-harming.
- Addiction workbook and virtual programme (18+)
This programme was developed by people with lived experience of self-harm to support others who struggle. The workbook comprises 142 pages of questions for individuals to ask themselves, along with activities to increase their self-awareness, things to think about and ideas to help them. We run a monthly virtual support group to allow people to work on stages of the workbook together.
